Machine Specialist/Varcor Operator

Natural Prairie Dairy Farms is hiring an experienced Machine Specialists/Varcor Operator.


Natural Prairie Dairy’s mission is to provide the highest quality organic milk from our family to yours. We believe in creating a sustainable, traceable product that is produced humanely, respectful of the environment, and respectful of our people and animals. In doing so, we have commissioned the Varcor system, a state-of-the-art nutrient recovery technology for agriculture that will help solve nutrient pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions on dairy farms. The Varcor uses Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) to mechanically separates cow manure into three streams: clean water, dry Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium solids, and aqueous ammonia.


This position will focus on performing various tasks to operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on the Varcor system. After 6-12 months of training in Texas, an opportunity for traveling to support other Varcor operations/commissioning/training is possible.



  • Operate, maintain, and repair compressors, machinery, cranes, boilers, pumps, cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and scissors lifts, etc. per established standard operating procedures
  • Apply technical skills to troubleshoot breakdowns and make the necessary repairs promptly with minimal supervision
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities to fulfill objectives
  • Report all injuries/accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions immediately to supervisor or management
  • Communicate with supervisors to keep the downtime of equipment to a minimum
  • Act as a mentor for future operators
  • Comply with all safety, 5S and HazMat practices
  • Participate in safety training and meetings
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Be on call 24/7 when assigned on a rotational call-in schedule



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or trade school certification in a related technical field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical operations, engineering, or relevant area is required
  • Current, valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Outstanding safety record and knowledge of basic safety policies and procedures
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
  • Work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
