Responsible for the overall management of the dairy operation, including milking, maternity, hospital, breeding, rolling, feeding, herd health, and barn maintenance. Develop and train all supervisors and other direct reports and work the management model within those departments. Be responsible for barn maintenance, the company’s best-in-class milk quality, all department SOPs and safety procedures, and overall team member culture. Work to develop and train team members who can practice our management model for continuous improvement in operations. Use the approved onboarding program and management model to onboard new team members to ensure a retention rate of 90% for the year. Train all team members to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) so all team members under supervision should be able to demonstrate the SOPs according to their competency level. Recommend SOP changes or improvements according to the SOP company policy. Work the management model with all team members and maintain an LOC of 2.8 for each team. Use the approved supervision model to schedule supervision meetings with each assigned team member based on the TM competency level. Using the supervision model, identify and develop at least three high potential team members for promotions to supervisor roles. Report weekly metrics to the DOO and understand key performance indicators for success on farm. Monitor and control all usages of consumables approved in the budgets. Report all usages monthly to the DOO. Conduct bi-annual Animal Welfare Trainings to ensure all team members are up to date on the most recent animal welfare practices. Attend NPDF weekly management meetings to drive culture of teamwork. Supervise the parlor/facility and equipment maintenance team members to ensure facilities are maintained in good working condition to minimize costs. Work with supervisors to develop a 2 highly skilled maintenance team. Research continuous improvement opportunities in current SOPs and equipment. Understand and maintain the maintenance schedule for all equipment. Responsible for overseeing all 3,500 acres of farm ground and utilizing it for growing high quality feed for the cows. Oversee proper manure management from manure collection in the pens to application on farm ground in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Oversee harvest teams and operate with best-in-class standards for safety, feed quality, and feed storage.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, or other related agricultural degree, plus 2 years of experience in supervising and managing livestock operations.
