JOB DESCRIPTION

The Operations Team Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of employees within designated dairy operations (milking, feeding, breeding, hospital, maternity, or youngstock). This role ensures that daily activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards. The supervisor promotes teamwork, develops employee skills, and upholds company values while driving animal care, production, and operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, train, and supervise assigned team members in daily operations; Schedule shifts, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance; Foster a positive work environment by modeling company values (Passion, Trust, Excellence, Stewardship, Teamwork); Provide constructive feedback and conduct performance evaluations.

 

Operational Excellence: Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed consistently; Monitor animal health, welfare, and productivity, escalating issues to management or veterinarians as needed; Track and report operational metrics (milk production, feed efficiency, breeding performance, calf health, etc.); Maintain cleanliness, organization, and biosecurity in assigned areas.

 

Compliance & Safety: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards; Maintain accurate records of team activities, production data, and compliance logs; Identify areas for improvement and assist in updating SOPs.

 

Training & Development: Coach and mentor team members to build skills and prepare for leadership opportunities. Participate in supervisor and management development programs. Support new employee onboarding and cross-training efforts.

 

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Engineering, or related field and 24 months of experience supervising dairy farm operations. In the alternative, employer will accept no degree and 60 months of experience supervising dairy farm operations.
